A Twilight based MMORPG is in development
Ever wish you can be Bella or Edward? Soon that will be a possibility… well at least virtually. BrainJunk Studios is developing a massive multiplayer online role playing game based on Twilight.
Brandon Gardener, head of the software development for the project recently spoke to the Examiner. He describes the game as:
“an open non-linear world set around Forks. I like the idea of letting players explore the world, and discover new amazing things that are not even covered in the book or the movie…”
Mr. Gardener based the story line around Twilight and Midnight Sun so players can play from Edward or Bella’s perspective. He also wants to include New Moon so players can experience phasing into a werewolf.
The game is still in development and is not ready for purchase or download. We will update when new information becomes available.

That’s sounds really cool!
Being both a fan of the Lord of the Rings and Star Trek, I play Lord of the Rings Online(another MMORPG game) and I am eagerly awaiting the Star Trek Online game.
Having Twilight join the universe of online gaming
is very exciting for me, however I don’t think I’ll be able to afford it with all the other games I’ve subscribed to!
Comment by Aria — 07/28/2009 @ 8:10 am
Wow…I’d like to try that out!
But, I don’t think your going to be able to play for free. After all, with thousands of fans willing to play…that company is gonna make big bucks!
Comment by Nive — 07/28/2009 @ 8:14 am
Hmm… Interesting… Wasn’t there talk of a Harry Potter MMORPG at one point? I love Twilight but a HP one would be better I think, I mean Cast spells and all that or go stand in the sun and sparkle…
(NOTE: IM NOT DISSING ON TWILIGHT, its my second favorite series)

Alright, this is where I draw the line..first the dolls, now a video game? No.They shouldn’t have even came out with the dolls. I’ve supported Twilight from the begining, went to the midnight release parties for books/first movie. But after hearing about the video game,I’m not sure how much more I’m gonna support with this.
Sorry Bella,Edward,Cullen Family,Pack;I can’t support this crap anymore.
Comment by Chloe — 07/28/2009 @ 8:34 am
Oh wow! That sounds awesome!! I would love to play as Jacob and shift into wolf form! Oooh and okay Edward to hear everyone’s thoughts!
Can’t wait! Keep us updated!

All these companies are seeing Twilight as a huge cashcow. To me it makes the series less special. I wont buy the products or a subscibtion to this game because to me it loses its awesomeness. Personally, i just wanted the books and the movies and thats all. Not all this merchandise. I understand the hot topic braceletsand shirts, but now I feel they have gone to far. I will most definatly ingnore these projects as they come out. Such as the barbies, graphic novels, partie decorations, lip gloss, action figures, trading cards, and this new interactive game. But.. I will get my team Jacob crown, a Jake shirt, and the movie posters because i think that is the pacagedeal that comes with the movies. But that huge list( there is probly loads more stuff out there) kinda ruins the Twilight expieriance for me.
Comment by Bookworm — 07/28/2009 @ 8:41 am
First, dolls, then perfume.. NOW A VIDEO GAME???? I don’t think so.. They are going to far. AND JUST FOR MONEY!!
Comment by Mandy — 07/28/2009 @ 8:52 am
The first thing that came out of my mouth (literally) was “Say WHAT?”.
I’m still kinda confused. How would it be a MMORPG exactly, if we have to choose from playing as Bella or Edward? And seeing a whole bunch of the same character running around would be BIZARRE. I hope they end up making it so we can create our own characters.
On the other hand, expansions are easy. You just add in the content in the next book in the series…
Comment by Digi — 07/28/2009 @ 8:53 am
Oh noes!
As a player of a MMORPG *cough cough World of Warcraft cough* I really think this could be a potential disaster. The whole premise behind an MMO is to be able to create your own unique character and quest, group, etc to reach goals. What kind of questing setup would they have? It sounds like you’d only be able to play Bella or Edward, so how would that be an MMORPG? There’s no base story if there are no characters that make up the background story.
For instance, in WoW there is lore of pretty much every aspect of the game. Lore is the story of how things came to be all the way down to the enemies you fight. While its not something you’re required to know, its not like everyone gets to run around playing the most popular people from the lore. You play a character set up in a pre-designed universe, where as in this proposed game the only thing pre-designed it sounds like is the area of Forks and La Push.
If the game developers are pushing for an MMO, I suggest making it to where you can become a student at Forks and be able to interact with all of the main characters as if they were NPC’s.
However, I feel the best course of action for this game to success is to skip the idea of an MMO and make it strictly a non linear single player game. This way, you can play the main characters, do quests and the like and it be believable as there wouldn’t be 10 million Bella’s and Edward’s running around.

sorry but this is BS, its just a cash grab for those who got into twilight since the movie. what about the others & myself who have been with the series since it started? please tell me i am not the only one who thinks this is just stupid. your wrecking the whole twilight experience book and movies are great, shirts and merchandise are okay, but dolls and video games? that just stupid, but this is just my opinion cause i know other will think different, and i am NOT hating on the series cause lets face it i love the books, but i think they are blowing it WAY out of proportion now.
Comment by Autumn — 07/28/2009 @ 9:31 am
NO!! why are they doing this? The books and first film are good enough that they don’t need to flood the market with kiddie merchandise.. it’s insulting to the story and the characters.. it feels like each new item of jewellery/pillow case with Edward’s face on is cheapening it! no thanks!
Comment by Robyn — 07/28/2009 @ 9:35 am
Oh God no! What is the world coming to…I love the twilight saga don’t get me wrong and I used to play WoW so I’m very well acquainted to mmorpgs, but this is going a bit far. Really…come on people!
Comment by Shannon — 07/28/2009 @ 9:51 am
Ahhh!!
I thought i was the only one who was getting irritated with the whole market thing on twilight products but I am not!!
Honestly all I wanted was the books to transform into the movies.
This is just going way overboard.
If more crap continues to pile on just to make a few bucks, i think I might leave the Twilight Series!
PLEASE stop making stupid products. Its just taking the fantasy out of Twilight!
- a pissed off Twilight Fan!

Comment by alexis — 07/28/2009 @ 2:03 pm
This has to be the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard of. The game is going to have no substance. Stephenie Meyer created a small isolated world for the characters of Twilight. You need an entire universe of storyline in order to create a successful MMORPG. There aren’t enough characters, not enough world to explore. It’s going to be the cheapest excuse for a video game. But I see how they will get players to join, there are some very stupid die hard fans out there that would do anything to live the life of Twilight characters. Sad day…
Comment by JudgeJoBrown — 07/28/2009 @ 2:40 pm
As said above, I think Harry Potter would make a much better MMORPG. I don’t really know exactly how they’d work Twilight into a video game…
Comment by Jessi — 07/28/2009 @ 3:09 pm
Anonymous has their site set on you. I wouldn’t hold high hopes of this game getting anywhere without them harassing you to death. Or crashing you game servers constantly. Or both lol. It would be foolish and unwise to not expect them…

A Twilight MMO? Sounds kinda limited to me. I mean, is there much going on in that series outside Bella’s drama? And being able to play as only Bella and Edward? How do you make that an MMO? Will there be a million Bella’s running around? Not to bring in my despise for what the series has done to vampires and literature, but I don’t see how “Twilight” and “MMO” can be put together in any way. There’s just…nothing interesting in it. Even if you didn’t play just the two main characters (defeats the point of it being an MMO, doesn’t it? Just set up a private cybersex room in another rpg or something), there’s not enough going on for engaging gameplay. I mean seriously, you’ll be spending your time trying to blend into society in some nowhere hick town.
Boy that sounds fun. Then again, I already know the tastes of the kind of people who like Twilight to begin with. (I expect spam)

I think this game could be decent. It simply needs to act like a Japanese dating sim. You do a bunch of random fetch quests and navigate dialogue to try and get a little vampire make-out action.
Also, this game, like the books, and movies, will be awful. The vampire mouth-herpes test is great, however.
