‘On Air with Ryan Seacrest’ co-host confirms two-part Breaking Dawn?
Posted by Andrew on November 23rd, 2009 | Comments (51)

And ironically enough, it happened at the New Moon premiere!

Ryan Seacrest was broadcasting from the New Moon premiere in LA last Monday with one of his co-hosts, who accidentally said she heard Breaking Dawn will be two parts. Her source was – allegedly – the wife of a Summit executive she ran into at a nail salon.

To view the slip up, skip to the 2:50 mark in this video and listen to the story she tells. Keep in mind you should still keep this in the rumor category for now!

Thanks to The Lexicon for the tip.

i saw this earlier and freaked! i really hope thta the SUMMIT EXECUTIVE- WIFE knows what she was talking about lol im so for the two films because it just feels more appropriate, yes it can all fit into a 3hr movie but i think the audience that doesnt read the books but does watch the movie will miss out on soo much! plus it will give us 3 more movies too look forward to instead of 2!! so im soo for breaking dawn into two films

Comment by carina — 11/23/2009 @ 10:25 pm

no no……..please NO!

Comment by Shobi — 11/23/2009 @ 10:27 pm

Not a 2 part movie! Ugh they’re acting like breaking dawn has so much. I don’t think it has enough for two 2 hour movies.

Comment by Cornelius Vanderbilt — 11/23/2009 @ 10:29 pm

i acutally dont want it to be in 2 films, that just gives the fans more to wait for and people are already going really crazy, the sooner the madness stops the better. i personally absoulutly adore the Twilight saga but i dont think i have the patience to wait for an extra movie, im having trouble waiting for the rest as it is. but then again, it would be good if they didnt leave out too much from Breaking Dawn because its such a good book and to fully apprecaite it, you would have to know all the details. so, im sort of spilt in 2 at the moment, i dont think i care much either way acutally…

Comment by Victoria Cullen — 11/23/2009 @ 10:31 pm

I’m all for two movies….BRING. IT. ON!

Comment by Monica Natalia — 11/23/2009 @ 10:33 pm

As much fun as another movie would be, this is not a good idea. Breaking Dawn doesn’t have enough in it for two movies. Sure, Breaking Dawn was long, but if you consider that a scene in a movie can SHOW what the author took paragraphs to describe, that really cuts it down a lot. Much of Breaking Dawn was descriptions of what Bella sees through her new vampire eyes; this is easily condensed. If Breaking Dawn is split, they will either have to add in more stuff to make it two full movies, or they will have two boring movies. Neither one is really a good option in my book.

Comment by Katy — 11/23/2009 @ 10:34 pm

I sincerely hope that Breaking Dawn is broken up into two parts! Of course Summit could fit this into one longer movie and end the series; that would be a bad decision though. There was so much that happened in Breaking Dawn. Just think about it: Planning a wedding, getting married, the rift between jacob and bella, jacob running off, honeymoon, sex, sick, pregnant, rosalie, jacob, jacob with bella, jacob becoming the alfa…..and um folks that’s just the first part!!!! We get the point here. There is so much in Breaking Dawn. I most definitely want the series to last as long as it can; however, Summit could take their time with all of the details of the book; not having to rush certain parts due to a budget in a movie. Most of us fell in love with the books! We will go see these movies in hopes that what we’ve imagined will come to life. It’s what keeps most fans seeing these movies over and over again. Summit can definitely see that as well with reaching #1 at the Box office this past weekend, lol. It would as well be in their financial interests to do so. If they actually can get it right (making it into two parts) they’d stand to make a lot of money. Plus it gives fans a little more than they were expecting!

definitely 2 movies!!!theyrs just way too much to pak in2 2hrs!!!

Comment by jess — 11/23/2009 @ 11:39 pm

Honestly I hated Breaking Dawn… Apart from the wedding, renesme, and the Volturi nothing happens.

Please Summit, make only 1 movie.

Comment by Abbey O. — 11/23/2009 @ 11:41 pm

I think making Breaking Dawn into 2 movies is crucial! There is so much going on in this book, a lot of characters are still developing like Seth and Lea Clearwater! Introduction to more covens of vampires! The whole imprinting thing…including everything that Niki said! This was my favorite book of all so I’m will be stoked to get two movies out of it!

Comment by Jess — 11/23/2009 @ 11:49 pm

stephenie mentioned in one of her interviews at the NM premiere (i think with kaleb nation) that she believes BD would be better in 2 parts. it sounds like she has her heart set on it because i remember when BD came out she started saying she wishes it could be 2 movies.

anyhoo ~ i’m cool with that. more twilight the better i say! i think they are just finalizing all the rigmarole.

Comment by shauna — 11/24/2009 @ 12:07 am

Nooooooooooooo! I wish they wouldn’t make Breaking Dawn at all because it was not a very good book – But i suppose it is inevitable that they will make it :(

Two movies is a Baaad idea. The book is so repedative and way too long and boring. The movie should cut the crap, let melissa Rosenberg change a lot of stuff (cut out that baby for one thing!) and maybe, just maybe it would be watchable. I’m not a Twilight hater – I loved the first three books and adored the movies – I just think two movies would be flogging the franchise to death.

Comment by Liz — 11/24/2009 @ 1:29 am

The story and characters are so interwoven in Breaking Dawn that to split it into two films would spoil it and destroy the flow of the story line. Please NO !

Comment by Angelique101 UK — 11/24/2009 @ 2:08 am

I think that Renesme is a big part of the story! You can’t just take her out of the story! She combines the lives of both the Vampire and Werewolf families. Not to mention why Jacob felt so connected to Bella, and it shows the relationship between Jacob and Edward grow! Im sorry, it would hurt the story if they were to take it out. I’m confident that they won’t so, keep dreaming there Liz!

Comment by Bianca — 11/24/2009 @ 2:39 am

OMG.. I Dont know what to pick.. i just want to see it now.. i wont be a fan of waiting! lol..
Liz, how could you say take renesmee out? she is such a main part of the book.. and of course they HAVE to make Breaking dawn into a film.. it was such an amazing book. It really helped us understand the characters in more detail. Jacob for example.
If they made it in two films, where would they stop the first film? would it be one film full of drama, such as the wedding, sex, illness, birth. And then the next film all Jacob and Volturi? Im just undecided..
I cant complain tho. The Saga is such a AMAZING gift. So whatever summit decide it will be fantastic. They havnt let us down yet.
Have they?
xxx

Comment by Jessica — 11/24/2009 @ 3:08 am

NOOOOOO!!! I think people forget that a fair bit of the book is just Bella adjusting to her vampire self. I think also keeping it as the one film will reflect Renesme’s rapid growth… There is a lot they could cut out or just reduce with hunting, all the backstories and gathering of the campires and stuff in the cottage. But yes, 2 films is a very bad idea. It just means they have to come up with extra stuff to drag them both out to a reasonable time frame.

Comment by Tori — 11/24/2009 @ 4:22 am

*vampires. Sorry guys!

Comment by Tori — 11/24/2009 @ 4:22 am

why is everyone writing essays up here. comments are short and sweet guys.

Comment by FATIMA — 11/24/2009 @ 5:01 am

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Theres isn’t enough content for 2 movies!

Comment by Obama Ninja — 11/24/2009 @ 5:19 am

i dont know why people are complaining and saying there isnt enough for to movies, there totally is if you include all of jacobs book as well… and i wouldnt mind having to movies because i dont want to sit and watch a 4 hour movie or go to the 2 hour movie and have almost everything cut out. i actually like the idea of two movies…

Comment by Autumn — 11/24/2009 @ 5:43 am

Frankly, this is ridiculous. The only way they can make this into two films, is if they add more to the storyline, which there isn’t much. It’s going to be monotonous and boring if they spend so much time on one particular topic of the book i.e: Bella’s transformation, birth, jacob, Renesme, it’ll be boring people. I mean the first book alone, with Bella gettign married, cinematically speaking, will probably take no more than 15 minutes, 20 mins tops.

Looks like this is just another way for Summit to cash in on another $140 mil weekend. I’m not buying into it.

And really, i hated this book, if you devide it in two, depending where it cuts off, i’m very likely to care less for how the second part will turn out, and skip it altogether.

Comment by Liliana — 11/24/2009 @ 6:27 am

i didnt hate this book..i jus tthink theres not enough for two movies!

Comment by Shobi — 11/24/2009 @ 6:29 am

YEAAAAAA!!!! i know that people dont think that Breaking Dawn is big enough to have 2 parts, but it does! i cant wait to see it! love your podcast. keep up the good work!

Comment by dani nicole — 11/24/2009 @ 6:33 am

I love Ryan’s face. He’s like “Oh God, now I’m gonna get sued.”

Comment by Annie — 11/24/2009 @ 6:40 am

Haha. I love Ryan’s reaction. He really freaked out

Comment by Eva — 11/24/2009 @ 6:59 am

BD seems to me more like one of those 4 part mini series. They could break with convention and show it over 4 weeks at the cinema. I don’t want any of the smaller details to be left out as this is what makes BD, but I also don’t think that there are enough climactic moments to make 2 movies. Movie 1 – Bella gets married, honeymoon, wolfpack splits, Renesme is born. Nice and sweet but not enough to wait however months before part 2 which contains all the fight action, the gathering of the clans etc, they would also have to make the clash with the volutri a fight scene worth hanging around for.

Comment by maryh — 11/24/2009 @ 7:31 am

Ashley Green just tweeted the following: “Found out some really exciting news!! Details soon to come”

Hmmm wonder if its related to BD… :)

Comment by Cori — 11/24/2009 @ 7:32 am

I like the idea of a two part BD…I know some are worried that there is not enough material but perhaps Stephanie will work with Summit and add more to BD…More twilight saga cannot be a bad thing.

Comment by Jo — 11/24/2009 @ 8:44 am

Ok everyone-this is a “NO BRAINER”…of course there needs to be a 2-part Breaking Dawn! We need to see everything, and I’m sure Summit wants to give it to us!

* To those who don’t think there will be enough content to make (2)movies, read the book one more time and I’m sure you’ll find more details that you missed the first time reading it! **

Comment by Maese4Cullens — 11/24/2009 @ 8:48 am

lol, the only reason u r saying there isnt enough content for 2 movies is because the crew that does imprint live says so…n god forbid u develop your own conclusion. i have seen many book with less content made into movies that turn out wonderful. you have no idea how they may spin it, after all it is an adaptation not word for word from the books. if it was would you have anything to look fwd to? there is plenty of content.

do your thing stephenie! your true fans support u.

Comment by shelly — 11/24/2009 @ 9:13 am

ive read the book 19 times and i still dont see the content =)…everything is description my dear, and they can easily show that in hmmmmm a few minutes?? so no..2 movies is a big no….maybe a 3 hour movie is a better choice

Comment by Shobi — 11/24/2009 @ 10:07 am

To those that think there isn’t enough content and to those that do…it’s borderline. Now, my question is, would Stephenie work with Melissa to insert additional content that we HAVEN’T read to make it fun for all? I realize she’s been focused on writing other material, but since this saga is such a huge success, maybe she’ll pull something from out of her sleeve…kind of a neat idea…

Comment by Leilani — 11/24/2009 @ 10:23 am

I’m not going to accept any “information” unless it comes directly from Summit Entertainment.

Comment by chelsea — 11/24/2009 @ 10:31 am

I cant believe that there are somany of you saying there is not enough content for 2 films- the plot for new moon is pretty basic and they made that into 2 films and I’m sorry but I think it has to do more with the fact that people don’t like bd ( not my opinion but I’m not going to start a bd fight…

Comment by Sam — 11/24/2009 @ 11:08 am

This could be true. Ashlee Greene did just tweet that she got some “really exciting news” she could be talking about this. Maybe. Personally, I think it should only be one. Just me.

Comment by Jenn — 11/24/2009 @ 11:11 am

NO, please! It’s going to be so boring; there’s not enough content! :-( It’d be so much more intense if they fit it into a two, maybe three hour movie.

Comment by Deb — 11/24/2009 @ 1:24 pm

Hopefully one movie, which can easily be done. But I can also see them wanting to do two movies, which may be a good thing, but where to cut off the the first movie?

Comment by ak — 11/24/2009 @ 2:25 pm

Please. No.

Comment by sofia — 11/24/2009 @ 2:31 pm

i think either way it could be okay, as long as they get a director that knows what they’re doing. don’t really care either way, as long as it gets made. :) .

Comment by Emily — 11/24/2009 @ 2:37 pm

wow she’s so stupid you don’t just say that out loud.
ugh i wish they did not make it 2 films

Comment by sissy — 11/24/2009 @ 2:59 pm

they need to make it 2 movie just think that will be 2 more hours of twilight i’am for 2 movies and they can get the 1 st one out sooner 2 movie all the way

Comment by erin — 11/24/2009 @ 3:57 pm

Jess – They do change books for films you know – ever read PS I Love You, The Horse Whisperer, The Colour Purple, About a Boy, My sister’s keeper, any of the Harry Potter books, even Twilight? These are just a few examples where the film versions are different from the books they are based on and this includes changing elemets of the story and sometimes leaving out certain characters. I’m not saying and would leave out the baby, just that IMO, I think they should because she’s creepy and she destroyed the story and I’d hate to see the actors play second fiddle to a weird CGI baby/thing.

Comment by Liz — 11/24/2009 @ 4:26 pm

i hope they DO change stuff..more volturi action sequences!!!!!! OH and they should kill irina in a VERY dramatic way!!!!!!! like rip her into pieces VERY slowly!!! MUAHAHAHAH and then burn each one by one hahahahh god i sound like “James”

Comment by Shobi — 11/24/2009 @ 8:14 pm

Shobi, agreed – Lots more action is needed! Big vicious fight at the end please. Death could be involved…

Comment by Liz — 11/25/2009 @ 2:10 am

Ok, they are only doing this for two reasons- a.) They can make more money and b.) because Harry Potter is doing it. Now arguably Harry Potter is just in it for money too, but they have more than enough material for a 4 hour film. Breaking Dawn does not have enough material, and they only want to make a 5th movie to cash in.

Comment by Andy — 11/25/2009 @ 3:57 am

I am all for the 2 movies! If they do it properly, I think it will turn out very well

Comment by McKina — 11/25/2009 @ 4:13 am

i think that breaking Dawn should deff be made!!and it should be in 2 parts!there is so much going on and it was one of the best in the series!(:

Comment by HiIlary — 11/25/2009 @ 7:00 am

 If they leave out Renesmee then there’s no point in filming the last book at all !

Comment by Julia — 11/25/2009 @ 9:28 am

I really hope they don’t divide Breaking Dawn into two films. There is no where near enough information. Most of the book is just of Bella describing everything she’s seeing. At the most, it would only take one scene for the audience to see it.

If Summit ends up deciding that they are going to film Breaking Dawn into two parts, I hope they add tons of extra things in to add some action. Especially with the confrontation between the Volturi and the Cullens. They could easily make a fight break out to make it more visually appealing and entertaining to the audience.

Comment by Kelsey — 11/26/2009 @ 11:06 am

It’s important to remember that Kristen Stewart’s dad is the director of the Ryan Seacrest show.
