Production company begins casting for Forks reality show
Posted by Andrew on December 23rd, 2009 | Comments (27)

As fans know, Forks is the real town that Stephenie Meyer chose to have her vampires occupy. The town has seen an increase in tourism as the success of the Saga has risen, and now a production company is looking into creating a reality show based on life in Forks.

From Forks Forum:

Los Angeles-based television producer Zig Gauthier held a casting call at the Twilight Lounge (former Vagabond restaurant/bar) in Forks on Tuesday, Dec. 22, and was scheduled for a second round on Wednesday, Dec. 23.

Gauthier is proposing to film a reality show in Forks that would star local residents. The concept for the show would be presented to television networks who would decide whether to commit to backing the project.

Gauthier said in a call from Santa Monica that he is working with Annette Root, owner of Dazzled by Twilight, on the logistics of the casting call. He said Root has been very helpful in arranging for the Forks interviews.

Do you think this could be a successful idea? I think it has potential – people may be interested in seeing what life is like in a quaint town like Forks! Thanks to The Lexicon.

This is rediculous. I live in Redmond, WA and have been to both Forks and Port Angeles a dozen times. They’re not that interesting and I think this is too much. Places like the Hills on MTV draws viewers because people love to watch rich kids do things they could never dream of. This show will fail once the tweens realize that sparkly vampires aren’t on the show…

I look forward to reading more on your project.

There’s an area called Deep Ellum that has its share of vampires residing that walk throughout the night to dawn here in Texas.

this reality show would be good for one episod. I mean it would be watching same thing over and over. it is located on a small town called forks which is not entirely interesting.

this is a ridiculous idea! no-one wants to see this!

No. Just no. Stop trying to cash in on Twilight. Just STOP.

Comment by Rachel — 12/23/2009 @ 8:44 am

this is stupid.

I agree with Jamie. I’ve been to forks, port angelos, and other places along the Washington Nosthern coast because I live in Sequim, Washington. And after the first few visits, the town really loses it’s charm. This will only be good for one episode at the most.

I think all reality shows are trash and I think this sounds stupid.

Comment by Susan — 12/23/2009 @ 9:46 am

No No No No No! This is absolute lameness

Comment by Ashley G. — 12/23/2009 @ 9:55 am

This is going to ruin it! Ugh. Honestly, I wouldn’t mind -would even watch- say, an hour long special on Life in Forks. But this? This is going to take away from everyones imagination and dreams of what its like, so yes, please stop taking away from the town and turning it into what girls want it to be. Just keep it the same. That’s all we’d want it to be.

Just when I thought that people had already milked Twilight for all it’s worth (think of parfums that stink and glitter that doesn’t make you sparkle) – I read this!

No wonder everybody is hating on Twilight. It’s beginning to show up everywhere in all the wrong ways! Just another example of how shallow and greedy some people can be. And how gullible the public has become because no matter what – people will watch it (at least the premiere).

Comment by Daisy — 12/23/2009 @ 10:26 am

I think is one of the lamest ideas that anyone has ever come up with. Who wants to watch people of Forks? I think that it will get low ratings from the beginning and that the people who are working on this could use their time, energy and money on something else.

I have to agree with most of the opinions already on here, this cashing in on Twilight business needs to stop. Im a fan but theyre losing me with all this nonsense! The books were great, the movies are what they are, and thats that! Not everything needs to be “Twilight-ified”

Comment by Nikki — 12/23/2009 @ 11:59 am

SOOOOO ridiculous. It’s going to be an EPIC FAIL.
Talk about a REALLY SUBTLE idea to make money!
Goshh, they should stop this right away before they embarrass themselves.

Comment by F. — 12/23/2009 @ 12:01 pm

I have to agree. Pretty lame.

Comment by Mandy — 12/23/2009 @ 12:42 pm

I don’t really know what to think. But I don’t like the idea.

Comment by Claudia — 12/23/2009 @ 12:47 pm

Ridiculous. No wonder everyone makes fun of us Twilgiht fans :/

Comment by Heather D — 12/23/2009 @ 1:00 pm

this is stupid. lol…

Comment by Taylor — 12/23/2009 @ 1:51 pm

I agree with what everyone else has said. This is lame, and it would ruin the magicalness that is the Twilight universe. What we love about Twilight are the characters and the story, not the town its self.

Comment by Jessica — 12/23/2009 @ 2:02 pm

This should be filled under WTF news on Smart Mouths Podcast.

Comment by Bluewolf — 12/23/2009 @ 2:02 pm

There is absolutely no way any network would buy this for a reality show. People like watching shows where people try exploiting one another somehow to win or at least have some sort of talent related.

I agree with Bluewolf’s comment. :D

Comment by Skye — 12/23/2009 @ 3:04 pm

NO NO NO NO NO NO!!! STUPID IDEA.

Comment by Chiara — 12/23/2009 @ 3:46 pm

Yeah, maybe a movie or documentary at most. But a reality SHOW? No way.

Comment by Katie — 12/23/2009 @ 5:03 pm

I think most reality shows are overrated, and this idea is just ridiculous. I’m sooooo tired of people exploiting the Twilight Saga’s success.

Comment by Katie — 12/23/2009 @ 5:05 pm

This is a joke, right? In my opinion most reality TV shows are the lowest of the low. I mean really, no one wants to see what you do with your trivial, insignificant lives.

Comment by Melyssa — 12/23/2009 @ 7:48 pm

I would rather stab myself in the eye than watch this. I love Twilight as much as the next fan, but come on people, stop trying to cash in on the Twilight phenomenon.

Comment by Stacey — 12/24/2009 @ 8:59 pm

Ilove twilight!!!
