Posted by Andrew on December 16th, 2009 | Comments (20)

Amazon has published two lists noting the best selling books and authors of the decade.

On the best selling books list, Breaking Dawn took third place, Twilight took fourth, Eclipse took fifth, and New Moon took seventh.

Stephenie Meyer took the second place spot on the best selling authors list behind Harry Potter author JK Rowling.

Impressive! View the full lists at this link.

I just checked out the link! I’m glad that all 4 Twilight saga books made it to the top 10, though I’m not surprised to see Harry Potter books to be on the top as well! It’s just as amazing as the Twilight Saga! Expecto Patronum!

That’s huge to be second to Harry Potter. In the matter of two years ? THAT’S AWESOME !!
I adore the Twilight books and Stephenie and SHE DESERVES EVERYTHING !!!

guess we’ll just have to wait for stephenie to write a few more books so she can beat J K Rowling.

if u look at the list of best selling AUTHORS of the decade.. i like how william shakespeare is # 10 lol … and hes dead lol

Rose Virgo,

You don’t become a good writer by writing more books. Why does JK Rowling have to beaten? She is a great author and she deserves to be number one. Don’t start arguements; that’s all I’m saying.

Hmmm…at least a good proper author actually got number one. It is a bit saddening that this author of sexist, plotless, fanfiction trash.

Dear TwilightSource team,

I made a perfectly polite comment and you deleted it. I think the user “Rose Virgo” should’ve had her comment deleted since she made a comment that is starting arguements. I was merely trying to make things clear.
I am passionate about Harry Potter yet you let people walk all over it on your site. I’m quite dissapointed in you guys considering I thought you were fans ofHP too and respected the series too.
I will not be returning to your site.

It makes me so happy to see people supporting HP on a twilight site :-) . Though the twilight books are enormously popular, that does not make Stephanie Meyer the best author of the decade, and so JK Rowling definitely deserves her spot! If it were me I would have her be in all 10 spots- no one can compete with her! WE LOVE YOU JO!!!!

Hahahaha Harry Potter is a way better series

Cool. I’m so happy Jo got her place though. She has been a complete icon. We love you Jo!

awww! We need to get Stephenie to THE TOP #1 SPOT! GO STEPH! hehe, luv her. <3

Comment by Meghan — 12/16/2009 @ 7:54 pm

Awesome! Love that fact that Jo is #1! And I don’t mind that Stephenie is #2, though personally after Jo, Karen Traviss and Drew Karpyshyn, authors of the Republic Commando series and the Darth Bane trilogy, respectively, are my favorite authors.

I have to admit too that I’m surprised New Moon is so far down the list, and that Order of the Phoenix is nowhere to be found!

I don’t understand the argument between HP and Twilight. they’re completely different series… and yes, they’re both ‘fantasy’ novel series, but the material is COMPLETELY different. i don’t understand why people just can’t enjoy both and let it go. seriously, i’m extremely happy for both of them, and i LOVE HP and Twilight. it’s just silly to start arguments over the littlest things.

YAY for HP! Jo deserves all the best for all her amazing work and I am not surprised that Steph got 2nd, but I am more excited Jo got first!

Mischief Managed! =)

Why do they always post stuff about HP?
ok get it theyre fans but this is a twilight fansite
its not that i hate HP i read the books and i liked twilight better….JUST STATING MY OPINION
good for jo btw!

The reason why people compare Twilight and HP is because people are always claiming that Twilight is the next HP, which its not. And the reason why people claim that Twilight is the next HP is because it sold really quickly similar to how HP got started. It has nothing to do with content, its all sales.

Twilight came out at a convenient time; HP was over and people needed somewhere to go. If Twilight had come out during the peak of HP then no one would have ever heard about it.

Good for Jo and Stephanie! Gotta admit, I’m SO happy Jo is number 1. She is truly AMAZING as an author. I think Stephanie is improving with every book she writes and I adore Twilight, but I don’t feel Steph is even half the author Jo is.
