Taylor Lautner cast in new action movie as Max Steel
Paramount Pictures has cast Taylor Lautner as Max Steel, according to Deadline.com:
Paramount has confirmed to me exclusively that it’s hired 8-pack-abs Taylor Lautner for the lead in Max Steel, instantly creating perhaps the next young big action star. (The Twilight Saga phenom is only 17 years old, and the Summit Entertainment folks predicted to me a year ago that he’d end up in demand for this kind of role after he bulked up for New Moon.)
This is the Joe Roth-produced project based on the hugely successful Mattel property that’s an international bestseller. The movie will receive a major push planned as Mattel raises its stateside presence with the Paramount release. I’m told Max Steel will be a four-quadrant popcorn movie in the spirit of Iron Man about a 19-year-old extreme sports junkie recruited by a secret agency after an accident infects his body, leaving him with superhuman powers.
Sounds like a great role for Taylor!

That’s wonderful! Good job, Taylor! He’s definitely the most talented of the young actors in Twilight, and I can’t wait to see what he brings to other roles

I think the role is kinda perfect for him he seems to be the perfect young action star just hope it’s just not some type of teen tripplex movie he’s 2 talented for that crap

Sounds like a lame movie, but I’m sure he could pull it off. I’d still see it too, no matter how cheesy lol.

Stereotyped much ? A non human with abs ? I hope he doesn’t ever want to do any serious roles or he may be disappointed. Good luck to him anyway.

weird, coz my guy friends and I all love twilight. we’re twiguys, 5 of us have read the books, and the rest, just loves it.. and only 1 of us is openly gay so you can’t really stereotype that twilight is for softee homosexual driven guys… but my point is if twilight is such a chick flick then that’s like saying that guys can’t appreciate romance right?
well, Max Steel is great! I’m sure people will see taylor behind that 6pack abs, that he’s such a great actor

That easily sounds like the stupidest Movie I’ve ever head of. Don’t get me wrong I like Taylor but this sounds like a retarded movie and he’s only doing it because it’s going to make him a boat load of money. Very shallow Taylor, Very shallow. You should be more like robb and Kristen. They seem to only chose good movies( adventureland, Joan Jett and the runaways, into the wild, remember me) not just movies that make slot of money.

Sweet, congrats to Taylor. Thanks for the tip Andrew

@James
How is it shallow? Unlike Kristen, he doesn’t have parents who are in the business and has connections to get him “good” roles(because the reality is, that’s how she got all her roles) and unlike Rob, he didn’t become Hollywood’s IT boy, where he can pick and chose what roles he want. Taylor is working with what he has.

Cool. Does anyone know if he’ll be shirtless much in this? (that was a joke)

Good for him! He’s going to be awsome!
Also good for twilightsource. THe reported this before the E channel did. I flipped it on 5 minutes ago and it was talking about for it the first time. Lolz.

Im so happy for him! He’s always wanted to be in an action movie. He will defintely be perfect for this part. Though i think its a bit odd that he will be playing someone older…But he looks the part.

Go Taylor! I know you are going to be a big star. You are very mature for your age, interview best of all the major Twilight stars, including Rob and Kris. I wish you more success and I will be watching you and your talented work.

I’m happy for taylor I just hope that this film doesnt conflict with Breaking Dawn I wouldnt want to go through another Rachelle Lefevre situation
Comment by lulu — 12/06/2009 @ 5:58 pm
I think it’s a little harsh to say that he’s sold out because at the end of the day, this is the type of movie that he’s always wanted to be involved in. But I would repeat what I stated earlier about stereotyping as I worry that in 5 years time he won’t have any real ‘acting’ experience behind him if he was to ONLY take the action/abs movie/character type route as with these types of films, there’s always some one younger etc to take over from you pretty quickly. Also, once you’ve played one action hero/superhero it’s difficult to broaden your scope in action movies because you’ll always be associated with that role, kind of like how Tobey Maguire trying to play another action/superhero other than Spiderman wouldn’t work. I know he has Valentine’s Day too but it’s only a small part and he plays a highschool jock (with abs!) and there’s so many bigger stars he will probably be over-shadowed. Perhaps he could do some theatre work to prove that he’s not a one trick pony ? I look forward to seeing him in more diverse roles hopefully in the future.

James:
Actually, I’m glad Taylor is taking this role. He is much more gracious than Kristen or Rob. I mean I love them, but do you not know they asked for $12,000,000 each for New Moon?
So what if the movie is dumb, he’s still not as greedy as the people you’re comparing him to.
Comment by Lee — 12/07/2009 @ 1:27 pm
I think Lee needs to stop believing everything he reads with regards to who was paid what for New Moon. Figures reported in the press are ALWAYS waaaayyy over exaggerated.
