Twilight to make its cable premiere on January 23rd, 2010
The first film in the Twilight saga will be making its cable television debut on January 23rd!
Showtime has the rights to the film, and you can expect it to air on there many many more times.
As we told you last week, FX just acquired cable rights to the other films in the Twilight saga.
Thanks to Jennifer for the tip!

This is a HUGE mistake!!! I’m sorry but looking for a huge cashout is ruining this..should have been lady as a blockbuster movie saga which probably would never gave been duplicated…they’re taking this way too far and it’s kind of sad.

I don’t like this. I feel as though it is going to wear the saga out. And isn’t it a bit soon? I mean twilight hasn’t even been out on DVD for a year.

Lol, January? Twilight premiered here in the Philippines on November 21.

This is not cool…Its to soon; Its bad enough how some people already hate the series but now their prematurely airing it on cable. This might affect the whole series…

lol I think it already premiered here in Portugal as well
Comment by Sofia — 12/02/2009 @ 8:28 am
I think it’s already been on Sky Movies in the UK…I might be wrong though. Anyone know? I know that quite a few of the Harry Potter’s have been on, but anyway…
Sorry if I’m wrong, but for all the US fans this is cool news, no? I guess it might seema little soon, but twilight has been out for over a year, and it’s coming out after New Moon, which makes sense. It’ll certainly get people who’ve only just got into the Twilight saga (after seeing New Moon) more interested etc.

Huh, that’s weird… They showed it in Sweden about two weeks ago :S

Twilight premiered on Sky Premier Movies (and HD) over here in the UK on 14th November – and this was followed with a New Moon movie special (which was interviews with the cast). I don’t think it’s that big a deal it being shown on TV – I liked how it was done here because it was clever promotion for New Moon and got us fans and newbiea
geared up and excited about the release of New Moon 1 week later.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince premiers in the UK on Sky Box Office (which is a pay for movie channel) the same day as the release of the DVD. All the other HP movies have already been aired a few times on the regular Sky Movies channels.
It’s a franchise movie, so it’s natural for it’s popularity to keep on growing with each release of the saga. Look at all the merchandise for instance (some sillier than others) – I find that a whole lot worse than a movie being shown on a cable/ satellite.

Oh, my god Twilight is going to be premiered. Can not wait. Go Twilight. x =-)

A lot of movies that premire on pay cable channels usually are realeased about a year after they have been release in the theatres not after they have been released on DVD. This is a normal time on Harry Potter 5 has been on HBO for quite awhile, since 2008. It just have not been shown on non-pay cable channels (abc family, fx, etc.)
Comment by Jennifer — 12/02/2009 @ 10:03 am
I ment to say it is a normal timeline for a movie released to a pay-cable channel. Harry Potter 5…

they aired twilight on a public TV channel in spain on november 17th this year…and it wasnt a big deal at all…
Comment by maria — 12/02/2009 @ 1:41 pm
As said before, twilight premiered on sky movies in uk on 14th november. sky movies do this with pretty much every francise- releasing the previous film just before the next one comes out in cinemas. They do it with harry potter and have done it with other franchises like lord of the rings and batman too. even films that were huge box office successes and that aren’t franchises e.g. mamma mia are shown after a year or so after their cinema release. sorry for the rant but thought id say it as you americans are getting all excited. this isnt big news for us british- unless you weirdly don’t own a sky box.

This is way to soon to have it play publicly. Summit is missing out.

SWEET!!!!!!!!!
Comment by Marti — 12/02/2009 @ 7:40 pm
I’m shocked that it hasn’t aired on tv yet! January kind of seems to far off. As far as FX getting the other’s, this is major bs because when they do decide to air them, there going to be chopped to pieces because of the commercials! I wouldn’t want to watch it when I could either rent or own the movies! just my opinion
Comment by Jess — 12/02/2009 @ 11:52 pm
It’s about time they put twilight on tv. I mean it’s been forever since it hit dvd.
Comment by Valencia — 12/03/2009 @ 5:50 pm
Twilight has already been and gone off the television in the UK on Sky Movies…
Comment by Rhea — 12/04/2009 @ 2:13 am
Well, twilight is already on cable tv in brazil since november.

As an American I don’t see the big deal bout Twilight hitting T.V. Really it getting more common to go from Cinema, DVD, PPV, Premier Cable channels to Regular T.V in just a short time..I love Twilight and New Moon, can’t wait for Eclipse..and just don’t see the fuss over it goin to T.V next year!
