Stephenie Meyer on Oprah: knows Edward and Bella’s future, working on The Host movie

A new Q&A with Stephenie Meyer has been posted on Oprah’s website in the form of a video interview.

Here are some highlights:
- Stephenie confirms she’s going to stay away from vampires for a while and work on other things.
- Stephenie is working on The Host movie, which was revealed to be in the works several weeks ago.
- She knows exactly what happens to Bella and Edward beyond Breaking Dawn, but she’s not saying – yet.
- She has another fantasy book idea that’s so detailed “she’ll have a map in the front”.
- Right now Stephenie is reading “Everything Matters” by Ron Currie.
- Stephenie still isn’t ready to continue working on Midnight Sun.

shes still not ready to continue Breaking Dawn! that just kills me!! man!! so sad! But then she says she knows what happens to bella and edward but shes not ready to say yet!? man she really is torturing us!!!

I don’t care about Midnight Sun, we already read that story in Bella’s perspective. I WAS, however, hoping she’d still have plans to write a Host 2! I love The Host! So excited for that movie. READ THAT BOOK, PEOPLE! You will love it.

I’m excited to read anything she writes. A fantasy book with a map? Interesting. Maybe it’s the mermaids

EDIT: OHHH! In the video she says she’s taking a break from vampires, BUT “I might go spend some time with my aliens.”

I’m sure we’ll never have it. Or it’ll take like 10 years. Goshhh. I guess we can’t expect her to work on everything at the same time. It’s ok Stephenie, I still love you; you’re still the amazing person who created the Twilight Saga that we all love and are addicted with! Thank you, seriously. BUT PLEASE LET US HAVE MIDNIGHT SUN ASAP !!! Hahhhh!

The Host sequals? YAY! lol. It’s a really great book once you get past the first 9-15 chapters.

Ok finally finished watching the actual video, and YAY! She said she sees The Host as a 3-book series, and that will likely be her next project since she’s helping with the movie right now. Like I said, TwilightSource, you should make a fan site while it’s still in the early stages. A movie and probably TWO more books, then possibly TWO more movies if they make those as well

The only ones out there are awful because they’re never updated, or they’re just board threads.

I actually liked The Host more than the Twilight series when i first read it. So i’m SUPER excited to hear she might go back to it soon!!! OMG i want another one. The movie is quite exciting to. Though i wonder what actors they’re looking at….

Stephanie meyer you make me want to hug you half the time and then the other half of the time, i want to strangle you. God, like u know how much we want to see more twilight and you say u know where the characters go after breaking dawn, yet you give us nothing. I don’t really care about midnight sun, i think she should just give that up. Twilight is the most boring book and though it would have made the first movie better to use both books to see the different views, its still an introductory book and well the other books are just so much better. I don’t care if u write like a 5th grader, just give me another book that continues on from breaking dawn. I swear im gonna have to wait 20 years for u to get vampire motivation again. But what i would really love u for is if ur just keeping in a big secret that u have written another book and ur just waiting for breaking dawn the movie to be done with cuz we never get surprises anymore. I want to be surprised for once. Like i would be really surprised if they showed a trailer for eclipse before new moon…do i really think they are gonna do that…no. Ugh, i dont want to wait, i want to know everything right now. Well at least the movies will keep me tamed for the next 2 years or so but after that, if she doesn’t come out with another twilight book, i must die a little inside. And this is coming from someone in medical school who has never read a book in his life aside for twilight…i dont know what it is but it just pushes my buttons. Stephanie is just lucky im not her kid, i would probably yell at her everyday to write a new book for twilight saga haha

I REALLY don’t care about midnight sun, whyyy be so eager for another perspective of a book you’ve already read? Also, if she’s going to act like a child about it, then fine. I don’t support it. Grow a backbone Stephenie.

Also, ever since the horror that is Breaking dawn (shudder) I’ve haven’t had the taste for another Meyer-book.

Seriously Stephenie though, release the book before all the twilight-fans lose their obsession with Edward, because that day the twilight phase will die.

I know Meyer says she is sick of the vampires and feels like someone is looking over her shoulder so she isnt ready to write more about Twilight! honestly though she should have thought about that when the books became such a phenomenon! I thought I had read on her website that she was going to finish Midnight Sun? I know she wants to do other things which is col for any writer but really all the fans really want more and I wish hope and pray she thinks about it more and gives us more of what we really want!Also if Breaking dawn doesnt come ut in a movie just cause it may be more of a rated R movie I will be irratated if the book wasd more rated R why and moms let their kids read what makes you think it will stop parents from letting their kids see the movie? I and know other out their want more twilight I may be 30 but I loved the books and really want more and am excited or over the moon about it I know I am a dork Meyer would get her head out of her ass and quit thinking people are watching over her shoulder we just love the series and want ore I do not think that is to much to ask! Bella after Breaking dawn why not give us that! Just my rant and opinion maybe someone should make a petition for her to write more and possibly she will do it!

Can’t really blame her for not wanting to go back to Midnight Sun, what happened regarding that was inexcusable and it will be a miracle if we ever see that book come out. I love it that she’s working on the Host movie though! That book does not get enough attention, it truly is an awesome read.

Wow, people, stop being so mean about it. It’s her damn decision. And who cares, we’ve already READ that story. I’m sure you’ve read the first part of Midnight Sun since she posted it on her site, and it’s nothing special. I’d MUCH rather have something new.

(Although, I can sympathize a bit — that happened a long time ago, and she’s still not over it? What happened to ‘don’t cry over spilled milk’ — aka there’s nothing she can do about it at this point, so might as well dust herself off. JKR didn’t stop HBP from being published when “Snape kills Dumbledore” leaked all over the Internet.)

I have a feeling we won’t see Midnight Sun for a while. But oh well, it sounds like there might be more to the Twilight Saga though which is promising. Frankly, I’m willing to wait. Now, if JKR announced she was going to continue HP then I would go crazy…but with Twilight we have all the movies to focus on right now so I can deal with it.

er, what is wrong with half you people? yes we LOOOOOOOVE twilight but Until her interview we didnt know if she was going to write another twilight book, and now that shes mentioned, suddenly everyones dying to read it? CALM the hell down will you? get over it, she will write it when she wants, be patient or get lost i mean seriously….

okay having said that, Im SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited that shes writing host, i cant wait to see the movie and i deff cant wait to see her new fantasy book…im a aHUGE fantasy and sci-fi freak and if SMs name is on the cover of a book youd bet id be reading it! having said that i just love SM shes amazing and sweet and i thank her for giving birth to a wonderful series…Love you STEPHENIE!!

Another Twilight book may be in the works… I’m so excited to see what happens after Breaking Dawn!! Bella’s life as a vampire is fascinating, because we only got a snippet of it. We would see Renesmee growing up and using her power a lot more, Bella living with the Cullens, where the Cullens go (Emmett said he wants to move from Forks in Breaking Dawn) and Jacob?? I’m Team Switzerland so I’m excited to see what happens to everyone!

As for the Host, I haven’t actually read it (it’s sitting on my desk) and I decided I am going to read it tomorrow. I will be excited to see what happens in the Host because I know it is very different from the Twilight Saga. If I like the book, I hope the movie will be amazing, and I would be looking forward to a sequel, and even another one afterwards!!

Now, Midnight Sun. I have varied opinions on this. For one, I think the first chapter was AMAZING and I would like to see the rest of the book published and on the shelves. ALSO, I think this book is recieving too much hype. Seriously, when you look at this, and actually THINK about it, it’s just Twilight (the book you have ALREADY READ) in a different perspective and more developed writing by Stephenie. Seriously, most of the book, Bella and Edward are together anyway! So calm the hell down about this book and let her write it! New Moon would definitely be interesting in Edward’s perspective, since Edward isn’t there for most of it. Thanks for reading this rant.

i agree with Tom, about Midnight..BUT, there is one thing I do want to address which i dont think people realise…yes that its twilight from Edwards POV, but u see, you guys THINK its the same story, but its not, ive read more than one chapter…and we find out some VERY unsual things, and i think meyer would keep continuing that….shes gotta have something up her sleeve otherwise she would never have decided to make it into a book and publish it..dont have the misconception that it is the same thing because its not *says someone who can actually verify that*

this is killing me! I want to know what happens to edward and bella! their happily ever after probobly isn’t going to be happy forever! I was at peace with the ending of BD and now I am all anxious again! ANYTHING COULD HAPPEN TO THEM!!!

I’m interested in what she has in mind for the continuation after Breaking Dawn. That should be interesting.

NOT as interested for the “three book series” of the Host… when i finished that book, i was glad to be done with it. No need for any extras. Maybe she’s writting more for the host, to cash out on it’s sequels it will make when they too are turned into movies.

Other than that, i do hope she keeps writting, vampires or not. It’s ridiculous for the fans to pressure her. It’s not something that comes on when it’s pressed. It has to happen naturally. Not all writters go about writting the same way, and bullying the writer (like some of SM’s fans are doing) won’t maker her want to do it any more than she already does. Just saying…

I want more Host!!!!! lol. Stephanie Meyer, You have a fan for life, no matter what. I love the Twilight Series, I LOVE The Host but I’m will be just happy to read any of your stories that the future has to come. You are very talented.
