Chris Weitz reveals New Moon DVD details: deleted scenes, commentary

Lots of cool New Moon DVD news has been revealed to MTV through Chris Weitz:

“There will be a commentary track,” Weitz revealed, saying that he’ll soon head into the recording booth with his three big stars, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner. “It’ll just be us riffing off each other in our intimate way,” he grinned. “We kind of like each other, so that should be fun.”

“There will be probably about 20 minutes of deleted material,” he explained, promising some meaty footage. “It really is good stuff and a bonus for the fans.”

Among this bonus footage could be several moments MTV knows were shot but did not make the final “New Moon” cut, including:

- A scene with Rachelle Lefevre as Victoria driving to Forks in a car, snacking on a dead human. It was one of the final moments the actress filmed as the nomadic vampire.
- A scene with the human characters eating Burger King.
- Another scene with the humans, this time with Justin Chon and Michael Welch expressing jealousy over Edward’s car.
- More scenes with the Volturi in Italy.
- An extended cut of the scene where Mike Newton quotes Shakespeare to Bella in the Forks High parking lot; in it, he does a Marlon Brando impersonation.
- Scenes alluding to the ongoing breakup between Newton and Anna Kendrick’s Jessica.

i’m sssoooo glad rob gets to be a part of the commentary. twilight’s commentary was hilarious. and it’s honestly what i’m looking forward to most out of the entire dvd

Yeah, the twilight commentary was hilarious and that is definatley he part I am looking forward to most on the DVD, anyone know when it will be released? Also, the deleted scenes should be great although I was hoping for more on the cliff jumping scene. I felt it was too short in the movie

Wow, I’m so excited for the DVD now!!!
I think the part that i’m most looking forward to is the commentary, i’m sooo happy that Rob, Kristen and Taylor are all going to be in it, plus it’s always great to hear what the director has to say about certain scenes in the movie so i’m happy that Chris is going to part of the commentary too

oh, and for those of you who are wondering when the DVD is coming out, I think that it’ll probably be sometime in March (since Twilight came out in theatres November 21 last year and then was released on DVD March 17… so if things for New Moon work out the same way as they did for Twilight, the DVD would probably come out sometime in March). But I don’t know anything for certain… I hope this helps.

OME I want it now! I cant wait to see how many different editions of the DVD will be released lol! Last time I couldnt decide which one to get so I bought the 3 disc edition from target and the borders box set thing eek I hope I dont get as confused as last time lol

Im excited to see more of Mike quoting Shakespeare to Bella. I lol everytime I see that part.

Oh yayz! The Twilight commentairy with Ctherine, Robert and Kristen was great…rather, hilarious. It wuz a breath of fresh air. And now Taylor and Chris are involved, oh man this would be priceless! Two very funny dudes. Hmm. I wonder who would be funniest and say the dumbest things out of the four? I guess I’ll just have to watch. And… 20 minutes… hmm.
Too bad theres no extended or deleted scene with Jacob and Bella, I like that chemistry for some reason. Anyhoo, that Mike+Shakespeare thingie should be funny. As if this movie was funny enough,tough. Now Cant wait for Eclipse! WOOT!

Wow 20 minutes…that’s amazing! I forget how many minutes Twilight had in deleted/extended scenes but I would love to see way more of New Moon, especially since all the scenes they mentioned sound awesome. I hope the rest of the DVD is just as loaded, and I hope Target does another 3-disc edition this time around because the one for Twilight was PERFECT.

Thrilled to hear that they will have a commentary on this DVD too. It really helps fans connect with the storyline more, and enjoy the film from the actors’ perspectives. Looking forward to the deleted scenes too, and SO GLAD they cut out a hunk of the Burger King product placement crud. The bag on the garbage can, turning to face the camera, was more than obnoxious enough!

I like that Rob will be in the commentary. I love his humor… and I think Chris Weitz will inject quite a bit of wit himself. Taylor will, of course, sound fine, but I find his responses to be a bit standard for the course most of the time. I’m interested to see how Kristen will sound since she is getting much better with her interviews.

I hope they throw in some of the deleted dream sequences that the LA Times had posted on their website with Edward on Bella’s bed in the forest and a real life wolf.
