"In that instant, I was nothing close to the human I'd once been; no trace or shreds of humanity I'd managed to cloak myself in remained. I was a predator. She was my prey. There was nothing else in the whole world but that truth."
- Release Date: On hold indefinitely (see below)
- First 12 Chapters, unfinished: Download in PDF form from StephenieMeyer.com.
- Official Update 2, August 2008: In mid-August 2008, the first 12 Chapters of Midnight Sun were leaked online by an unknown source. Fans spread it around the internet, but no fansites posted it in hopes that it was not legitiment and to protect Stephenie's work. Unfortunately, the leak upset Stephenie to the point of making a statement on her website that says she has decided to put the project on hold "indefinitely". You can read the full statement here.
- Official Update, June 2008: "In response to the outrageous number of e-mails that I have received with questions concerning Midnight Sun, I talked to Stephenie this weekend and she asked me to let everyone know that Midnight Sun is her next project. She has not yet finished writing it (and there is no timeline set up, so we all need to put a lot of effort into being patient for a while longer), but she is definitely still planning on having it published. And, after Breaking Dawn comes out, Stephenie will have much more time to focus on writing Midnight Sun." -Seth of stepheniemeyer.com.
- Summary: Midnight Sun is Twilight from Edward's perspective. It follows Edward through the entirety of the first book in the Twilight series, depicting the events as he perceived them, depicting still other events unseen by Bella, and granting unrestricted insight into the heart and mind of the fabled Edward Cullen.
- Behind the Story: On her official site, Meyer discusses Midnight Sun at length, which includes a look into how its writing came about. Read the full behind-the-scenes story right here!
