Stephenie Meyer

Biography:

Stephenie Meyer was born on December 24, 1973 in Connecticut as one of six children, which she humorously compares to being a member of the Brady Bunch. Though she was born in New England, Stephenie considers herself a native to Arizona, where she has spent most of her life and currently lives with her husband and three sons. As a point of interest for fans, Stephenie attended high school in Scottsdale, where girls would "come back to school with new noses and there were Porsches in the student lot", which seems to have played a role in Bella's experience attending high school in a rich community in Arizona.

Stephenie majored in English with a concentration on literature at Brigham Young University in Utah, which she is very proud of for consistently finishing dead last on the list of the biggest party schools in the country. She met her husband, Pancho, at the tender age of four, but their romance didn't flourish until they were young adults, and nine months later they were married.

Twlight is Stephenie's first published novel, but she's no novice to great literature - some of her favorite authors include Janet Evanovich, Douglas Adams, Jane Austen, and many, many others. Self-professed to loving bands such as Muse, U2, My Chemical Romance, Jimmy Eat World, and Weezer, Stephenie says she can't write without music playing.

Success of Twilight

Upon its publication in 2005, readers and critics alike were rapidly sinking their teeth into Twilight in a frenzy described by Publisher's Weekly as "madly flipping the pages of Meyer's tantalizing debut".

Twilight and successive novels New Moon and Eclipse are all New York Times Bestsellers, and have consistently been recognized as "Editor's Choice" and "Top Ten Books for Reluctant Readers". Twilight has even been translated into 20 languages thus far, and there is no doubt this number will increase with the mounting excitement for the fourth and final installment.

The success of Twilight has led to the adaption of a feature film due out December 12th, 2008. Devoted to her work and characters, Stephenie has spent an enormous amount of time on the set of the Twilight movie getting to know the actors as well as watching her story go from print to camera. She has been known, from time to time, to share tidbits of her set visits on her Official Website, including a prank Peter Facinelli (Carlisle) pulled on her regarding vampires eating food in the middle of shooting scenes. She is also known to be very pleased with Kristen Stewart's (Bella) and Robert Pattinson's (Edward) portrayals of their respective characters, as well as their on-screen chemistry, which Stephenie thinks "may cause hyperventilation".
