Personal History--
Eleazar was once a member of the Volturi guard, and a very valuable member because of his gift . He left the Volturi after meeting Carmen and they joined Tanya, Kate and Irina in Denali. "Aro was sorry to see him go" (Breaking Dawn, pg. 580).
In Breaking Dawn, Eleazar is pivotal in helping the Cullens strategize against the Voltui. His biggest contribution was identifying Bella's power to be a shield. He, along with the rest of the Denali coven (excluding Irina), stay in Forks as witnesses of Renesmee's growth when the Volturi arrive.
