Irina, along with her sisters Kate and Tanya, are responsible for the succubus myths, because of their promiscuity with human men. Despite her friendship with the Cullen family, Irina refuses to attend Bella and Edward’s wedding because she is still nursing “a vendetta against the werewolves for killing her friend Laurent” (Breaking Dawn, pg. 31). Later, she travels to Forks but sees Jacob, Bella and Renesmee hunting. Wrongly believing Renesmee to be an immortal child, she runs off to inform the Volturi, leading them to travel to Forks to confront the Cullens. Irina’s great distaste for immortal children comes from her memories of the Volturi destroying her mother for creating such a child. Her actions led to the conflict between the Volturi and the Cullens at the end of Breaking Dawn.
