Personal History--
Kate is one of Tanya's sisters--though not biological. Bella first meets her at the wedding and gets to know her better as the Cullens prepare for the arrival of the Volturi. Carlisle tells Bella, in Breaking Dawn, that the Volturi killed Kate's coven mother for creating an "immortal child." Kate and her sisters are also behind the succubus myths. "Their fondness for human men eventually led them to feel remorse for their victims, and they slowly trained themselves to resist human blood."
She is instrumental in helping Bella project her shield to protect her family against the Volturi.
