When describing his family’s special talents, Edward tells Bella that Rosalie brought her tenacity or pigheadedness into her new life as a vampire (Twilight, pg. 307).

Description: Rosalie was always focused on beauty in her human life, so she is just as consumed by it in her life as a vampire. Because of this fixation, Rosalie is always jealous of Bella, and makes Bella feel like she hates her. Rosalie admits that she is jealous because Edward wants Bella and not her. She is also jealous that Bella is still human, because Rosalie would give anything to still be human. She feels Bella makes the wrong decision in choosing to become a vampire (Eclipse, pg. 164-166). Rosalie comes across as being a very tenacious person, but seems to have a softer side to her, as seen by her actions around Renesmee and Emmett.

Personal History—
In 1933, while Rosalie Hale was living in Rochester, New York with her father, mother, and two younger brothers, she met Royce King the Second. Royce’s father owned the bank her father worked at, as well as every other profitable business in town (Eclipse, pg. 156). After a courtship of about two months, Royce King the Second and Rosalie became engaged. An extremely lavish wedding was planned. One night, Rosalie was walking home from her friend Vera’s house when she came upon a group of very drunk men (Eclipse, pg. 159). When they called out to her, Rosalie noticed that it was Royce and his friends. After being beaten, abused and left for dead in the middle of the street, Carlisle Cullen smelled the blood and found her (Eclipse, pg. 160).
Thinking Rosalie could be to Edward what Esme was to him, Carlisle transformed Rosalie into a vampire. Rosalie went on to exact revenge on the five men that left her to die (and the two guards guarding Royce). To this day, they are the only humans Rosalie has killed. She, however, did not taste their blood.
In 1935, Rosalie was hunting in Appalachia when she came upon Emmett being mauled by a bear. Seeing a close resemblance to her friend Vera’s child, Rosalie carried Emmett back to Carlisle. He transformed Emmett into a vampire and Emmett became Rosalie’s soul mate. She married him and continues to have a very intense and physical love with him.
Rosalie becomes very jealous when Edward meets Bella in Forks. Rosalie has a hard time getting over the fact that Edward chooses Bella over her and all of the other females he has come across. Rosalie is also jealous of the fact that Bella is still human and can have a human life. It upsets her that Bella is willingly choosing to become a vampire.
When James decides to go after Bella, Rosalie refuses to wear Bella’s clothing (Twilight, pg. 401). She views Bella as a danger to her family and does not approve of them risking their safety for her (Twilight, pg. 401).
After Edward leaves Bella, Rosalie is with Alice when Alice sees Bella jumping off a cliff. When Alice leaves to Forks to see what has happened, Rosalie calls Edward to tell him about of Bella’s death (New Moon, pg. 415). Full of remorse for what she has done, Rosalie meets Bella, Edward, and Alice at the airport and begs for forgiveness from Bella and Edward (New Moon, pg. 497).
For Bella’s wedding, Rosalie helps Alice put Bella’s hair into braids (Breaking Dawn, pg. 43). Rosalie plays the piano for Bella as she walks down the aisle towards Edward (Breaking Dawn, pg. 47).
Bella calls Rosalie when she finds out she is pregnant, to ask for her help protecting the unborn child. Rosalie acts as Bella’s bodyguard to make sure that neither Edward nor Carlisle can harm the little boy or girl. She helps Bella to the bathroom and also gets blood for her when they realize what the unborn child is craving. When Renesmee is born, Rosalie continues to watch over her as Bella transforms into a vampire and also is a very doting aunt.
When the Volturi threaten the entire Cullen family, Rosalie joins Emmett and goes traveling throughout the north in order to find any nomads to help their cause and protect her family.
