Why We Love Stephenie!

Because we already know why you're all in love with Edward, you'll find accounts from our site's staff as well as visitors on this page detailing what it is about the brains behind Twilight we all love so much: Stephenie!

Twilight Source Staff:

Laura Thompson: Stephenie has always been very open to her fans. Whether it be by meeting them on book tours, or through the personal and chatty way she narrates her website, she leaves us with no doubt of her sincerity towards her avid readers. That means the world to the reader of any book, so we are quite lucky to have fallen in love with Stephenie Meyer's story, not only for the story itself, but for the talented and gracious woman behind it.

Andrew Sims: After attending Stephenie's book signing in San Diego on May 23rd (coincidentally my birthday), I realized how much of a down to earth person she is. As she walked into the conference room with hundreds of girls cheering, we caught her in an appreciative and warm smile not every celebrity will have. Dressed in a pretty summer skirt and flip flops, she spent a half hour speaking to the audience in a fun, conversational tone. That tone is what made me see the down to earth Stephenie, and that's why I love her. Oh, and her books are awesome.

Matt Britton: When I met Stephenie Meyer at her book signing in San Diego, CA, I realized how kind and personal she is with her fans. When she walked in the room she had a huge excited smile on her face and at that moment I fell in love with her. She is just as involved and in love with her characters as we fans are, and it really shows. What I love most about her books are the characters. She is no doubt a "character" writer, meaning her characters are so well written that all you really need to do is put them together and they write the story themselves.

Elysa Montfort: I love anyone who can get modern teenagers to pick up a book, and that's precisely what Stephenie's done: inspired countless Generation Y-ers to discover the power of the written word. And that's no small feat in today's culture. She loves her characters, and it shows-- it shows in how so many others have come to love them as well, in how rapidly the characters have become legends in contemporary literature, and in how widespread the Twilight fanbase truly is. Cheers to you, Ms. Meyer.

Twilight Source Visitors:

Juli: I got to meet Stephenie Meyer last August, when she came to my school, Marcos de Niza. My school's book club had a arrangement with Changing Hands bookstore, so all of the members got free tickets to her event. Stephenie was amazing to see in person, but I was most impressed with her when I came up to get my books signed. Despite having spent several hours in a dimly lit, poorly air-conditioned room in the Arizona heat signing hundreds of books, Stephenie was still greeting each and every fan with a smile. When the girl in front of me and I finally made it to her table, she turned to one of her assistants and said, "I have the cutest fans, don't I?" It was just so wonderful how she could maintain a cheerful nature after spending hours signing books.

Jill: I love her because she inspires so many young writers to pursue their dreams. When I went to meet her a couple of months ago at a signing I met so many people there who said they were trying to get their stuff published because Stephenie inspired them to. Plus she loves Daniel Day Lewis, so that makes me love her even more :).

Caitlin: I love Stephenie because of her enthusiasm. She is the ultimate Twilighter. She wants Bella and Edward to end up happy and together more then any of us. She seems so excited about the movie and seeing someone else's interpretation of the story. Even the books, her own creations, excite her and I've got the feeling that she is looking forward to the release of Breaking Dawn even more then we are. She kind of even writes fan fiction about her own stories, thats what the extras and outtakes would be if they were written by anyone but her. I also love how much she loves us right back. She truly seems to enjoy how much we worship her and her work. She isn't stand-offish at all, she accepts us, the crazy fans, just the way we are and I have never heard one complaint. Stephenie Meyer just seems to truly love her work, love her fans, and love being a fan of these amazing characters that she has created.

Casey: I love Stephenie Meyer because of her attitude towards her work and her fans. She meets everyone with a positive attitude and is genuinely happy to meet anyone of her fans because she is just as excited by the series as we all are. Of course I could not talk about why I love Stephenie Meyer without including that her series is the work of a pure literary genius, who has brought to us not only a book to love and worship and read over and over again, but also herself who we can worship because of her wonderful books, her wonderful positive personality and her wonderful enthusiasm with her fans and her series. I give Stephenie Meyer a 12 out of 10!
